With better and more responsive front-end tech landing everyday (Meteor's "Latency Compensation" for eg.),
latency is becoming less important.
Notice we said "less". It still counts for overall page/app load speeds and general snappiness.
(These factors still heavily influence your site's quality score and ultimately your cost-per-click if running AdWord campaigns.)
But it doesn't stop us from choosing the best and quickest locations to "host" for South African based businesses. (Local is lekker but the likes of
Cloud Africa can't really compete just
yet so we're excluding them
for now.)
In our experience,
RTT or
ping times from South Africa are approximately
200ms to Europe and
300ms odd to the USA.
That makes the EU virtually 50% faster than the States. Good to know... We'll take it!
